As you go in to the New Year, you want to create goals, create new habits and create a consistency that you will stick with.  As you start thinking about what your goals are for next year, you will list things that you want to do, should do or are being told to do.  The biggest issue in succeeding with your goals is consistency.

Without taking that step every single day to reach our goal, whether its weight loss, making more money, starting your own business or whatever your goal is, you won’t meet that goal or milestone that you are setting out to reach.

4 Tips On How To Be Consistent

  1. Work It Everyday –  Yes, I know, you’ve heard it before, but it must be important if you’re hearing it again. If something is important to you and you want to accomplish the goal, you need to work on it every day.  You don’t need to spend 3 hours working it if you don’t have the time.  You can spend 5 – 10 minutes working on small steps each day to get there.  Each small step adds up.   2. Create A Consistency Ritual – I’m not talking about that kind of ritual, but I do want you to really incorporate your goal in to your schedule.  The thing is, we all get 24 hours in a day, but its how we use that time.  If you say, “Okay, I’m going to take 10 minutes every day as soon as I am done eating dinner to focus on my goal,” that’s great! Set an alarm in your phone to target that reminder for you. And that takes me to our next tip which is….
  3. Take Note Of Your Consistency –  I was reading a blog and she was talking about how at her gym, the owner would put a red triangle on his calendar every time he showed up at the gym. When she saw it, there weren’t very many days without red triangles.  This could be a huge motivation because if you add a red triangle or any color or shape for the days you take action for your goals, think about how good it feels to see that on your calendar or about how it would make you feel if you don’t have any on your calendar.
  4. Take Responsibility – We are human, there are going to be mistakes, there are going to be days where you slip up or something happens, but you have to remember to take responsibility.  You are accountable for your consistency, no one else can do that for you.  And sure, the baby was up all night, you had to work late, or you are super tired, I know because I’ve been there.  However, those still are just excuses why you couldn’t take 10 minutes out of your day to help create a better life for yourself.
